Guide to Legian

Nestled between Kuta and Seminyak is the popular beachfront area of Legian. A stone’s throw from bustling Kuta, you can be sure to find plenty of shops and attractions here, but also some very valuable peace and quiet relaxing on the Legian beach.

With families, groups and couples all welcome, Legian offers something for everyone, and it’s within easy distance of Bali’s top destinations and attractions.

Accommodation

Dotted along the beach, Legian resorts and beach villas are the perfect base for catching waves in the morning before a relaxed shopping expedition in the afternoon.

Legian has become a very popular destination in recent years for couples and families looking to steer clear of busy nightlife, but also remain close to the best shopping spots. North of the backpacking hub of Kuta and south of Seminyak, Legian has the best of both worlds when it comes to accommodation.

Here are some of our favourites:

  • The quirky yet stylish Ossotel Resort
  • Magani Hotel and Resort in the heart of Legian, sister to the famous Bali Nikasoma
  • The first-class beachfront Bali Mandira Resort and Spa
  • Camakila Legian, which is just a short hop away from Legian’s many shops and restaurants

Things to do in Legian

You can’t stay in Legian without spending some time relaxing on Legian Beach. The eastern coast beach stretches through Kuta, Legian and Seminyak, so there’s plenty of space to work on your tan or take an evening stroll as you watch the sun set. Legian is a popular surfing destination, for both beginners and advanced boarders alike. So an awesome way to spend an afternoon would be to hire a board or take some lessons with one of the many surf schools in the area.

The restaurants here are also top-notch, and if you’re spending a few days in Legian, don’t miss the opportunity to grab a meal at Mozzarella by the Sea (make sure you book in advance), or Tekor Bali (for that traditional Indonesian dining experience).

Legian is known for its fantastic markets, small designer shops and boutiques, so shoppers are also going to be spoilt for choice!
