Guide to Tanjung Benoa

Being Bali’s main port, you’d expect it to be a hub of tourist activity, but Benoa Harbour is actually a relatively quiet area. With a recently built toll road, it’s only about a 25-minute drive from the airport, with the route including dozens of scenic outlooks perfect for photo opportunities. But there’s much, much more to this destination than the toll road’s magnificent views!

Where To Stay

Benoa’s Holiday Inn Resort is our most highly recommended place to stay, and being located right on the beach, there are plenty of activities to get involved in. It’s the perfect option whether you’re travelling with the family or just looking for a relaxed holiday away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Things To Do

This area of Bali is the perfect place to step away from the fast-life to focus on yourself and your well-being. Relax at one of its beaches or check into a day spa for a few hours of pampering – there’s no shortage of massage professionals in the area and you may even find yourself going back more than once. If there’s one thing that’s guaranteed, you’ll be leaving your holiday in Benoa feeling relaxed and rejuvenated!

If it’s beaches that are more your thing, you’re in luck – there’s no shortage of beach-inspired activities in the area, with Benoa being widely known for its variety in water sports. Spend a day snorkelling or scuba diving around the shallows and reefs to get a glimpse of the beautiful marine life. Or you could hire a jet ski and explore the bay area at speed. If adrenalin is more your thing, then strap into a parasail ride and view the area from a unique perspective – floating behind a speeding boat! Trust us when we tell you it’s a lot more fun than it is scary.

Another way to get the Benoa experience is letting a local tour guide show you around and teach you all about the local Balinese customs and cultures. There’s a range of tours available with everything from nature and wildlife walks through to historical excursions and cooking classes. You’ll learn much more about the local area by taking one of these (if not a few) than if you were to explore it on your own – not to mention the delicious Balinese recipes you’ll be able to share with your friends if you take a cooking class!

But if none of these awesome activities appeal to you, there’s also quite a few local restaurants and shops that are perfect for wandering around in your own time. Benoa really is an ideal place to not get caught up in plans.
