Queensland Region Information

Brisbane is a dynamic river city. Urban villages, each with their personality to experience tease the river’s edge as it winds its way through the city. The CBD offers awarding-winning food and an extensive calendar of events. Head over to the South Bank and find 17-hectares of lush green parkland, stunning river views and the hub of the art scene. In Paddington stroll, cute Queenslander cottages turned shops and party late into the night in Fortitude Valley. No matter where you are the warm and welcoming locals are always ready to help you around the sunshine capital.

In summer the crowds may flock to the wide sandy beaches of the Gold Coast but, it is also the perfect time to venture inland and explore all the beauty the hinterland has to offer. The green behind the gold or Queensland’s Emerald City is often a forgotten land. Famous for unspoilt World Heritage sites, charming mountain villages, emerging arts and crafts, award-winning wineries and sweeping coastal views, the Gold’ Coast’s hinterland is a treasure trove waiting to explore.

Rich in diversity the Sunshine Coast is an abundance of natural beauty, beachside culture, amazing food and immersive encounters that will take your breath away. From the Glass House Mountains and rainforests in the hinterland to the mangroves and salt marshes along the coastline, the Sunshine Coast is brimming with rich ecosystems that you won't find anywhere else. A vibrant beach culture stretches along the 100km plus stretch of pristine sandy beaches, where you can jump on a wave, play beach sports or swim in the deep blue ocean. Coastal areas are well equipped, with numerous patrolled beaches along the Sunshine Coast.

Head further north to the Whitsundays and one of the area’s best-loved island resorts, Daydream Island. Closed in 2017 due to Tropical Cyclone, Debbie, the resort is back!  Daydream Island is a nice and compact island, one kilometre in length and 400 metre-wide so you can walk around the island or grab a kayak and circumnavigate for an alternative view. There is great snorkelling just off the beach and of course, it is a great launchpad if you wanted to explore some of the other 73 islands of the Whitsundays.

Go a little further north to the wet tropics of far North Queensland and visit Port Douglas. Where the rainforest meets the reef. The perfect base to see the local attractions including the World Heritage Listed Great Barrier Reef, Daintree Rainforest, Cape Tribulation and more!

Experience Mossman Gorge, a 20-minutes’ drive from Port Douglas, Mossman Gorge is the oldest, continuously surviving rainforest on earth. Nestled in the World Heritage Listed Daintree National Park, it is one of the few places in Australia where visitors can gain an insight into the lives, culture and beliefs of Australia’s indigenous population and their connection to the natural environment.
