7 tips for planning the perfect destination wedding from Australia

Getting married in paradise is every bride and groom's dream, but planning a wedding from another country is many a couple's nightmare.

To help you make sure you get hitched without a hitch, we have put together our top tips for planning a destination wedding from Australia.

1. Choose a location

The first and most important step is to choose where you want to tie the knot!

For such a momentous occasion you want a special place. You'll probably take your honeymoon straight after the wedding, so pick out a place you've always dreamed of going to.

2. Consider your guests

You want to choose somewhere that will be easy for your guests to access, within their budgets and suited to their needs. For example, if you know some of your guests will be bringing their young children, it's worth looking into resorts with kids clubs or babysitting facilities.

3. Go local

Make the most of what is available to you and use local flowers and food for your decor and reception. This can save you money and incorporate the best elements of local culture into your wedding.

4. Visit in advance

There is only so much you can get done online. Take at least one planning trip to your destination so you can scope out the ceremony and reception venues, accommodation, and chat to local suppliers for food and flowers.

5. Choose the right dress

For the bride to be, you'll have different factors to think about when choosing your dress. Heavy satin skirts don't mix well with tropical humidity, so maybe choose something light and floaty. Heels and a long train may also have to be struck off the wishlist if you plan on walking along the beach at all.

6. Get the timing right

Don't make the mistake of booking your wedding in the middle of the rainy season. Check out the local weather and choose a date that will have the weather you prefer.

Or, if you want uncrowded beaches and a quiet resort, it may be a good idea to go in low season.

7. Get the experts to help you with the planning
