What can I do here?
A visit to Tanna Island isn't complete without a trip to Yasur. This active volcano is lively and fiery. It's known as the world's most accessible volcano because with an experienced tour guide, you can walk right up to the crater's rim.
Along with this thrilling experience, there is a lot you can do on the island. Get in touch with the local culture at a village and take part in the dancing and kava drinking ceremonies. The villages here are authentic and rustic, so you can see how the ancient people of Vanuatu lived, including how they cooked, what food they ate and how they celebrated one another.
Visit a coffee plantation and take home the decadent and delicious Tanna coffee or head to the beach. There are a number of water activities you can enjoy with the whole family, including surfing and snorkelling. Venture inland and go for a trek to some of the beautiful waterfalls, hot springs and be immersed in the native greenery.
Where can I stay?
Embrace the relaxed island life and stay at Friendly Bungalows. You'll be welcomed by jovial locals and be embraced by this colourful culture. The bungalows are rustic, charming and comfortable. This is a unique opportunity to stay in a traditional Melanesian accommodation. Here, you'll be right near all of the amazing activities the area has on offer.
White Grass Resort is a more luxurious option. The bures you'll be staying in are also Melanesian style, but with a modern twist. Your room will come with full breakfast and you'll have access to equipment such as snorkels, bikes and kayaks that are all you need to get your adventures started.
