Are you travelling with your teens in Thailand? Make sure you experience the delights of the local cuisine at these top and totally authentic restaurants that are off the beaten track.

Bang Pae Seafood Restaurant

For world class seafood with authentic Thai flavours, head to this restaurant. This is where the locals go to get some for the best seafood in Bang Pae. In fact, it's one of the most popular places in the neighbourhood. The experienced chef takes the fresh produce and makes it into utterly tasty dishes.

One of the highlights is undoubtedly the tom yum talay, which is hot and sour Thai seafood soup. With your partner and teens in tow, order a bunch of dishes to try a range of flavours. The deep fried tempura shrimp, fresh oysters with herbs and stir-fried vegetables with cashew nuts are all top choices and very reasonably priced.

You'll find the restaurant in Bang Pae Village which is near Bang Pae Waterfall by the Thalang district. While it make require a bit of effort to get here, as it's a bit out of the way, it's worth it!

Mee Ton Poe Restaurant

This is a wonderful place to immerse yourself in authentic Thailand. The noodle restaurant is a down to earth place where friendly locals serve up mouth-watering dishes that will leave you wanting to come back for more.

Try the signature dish, which is stir-fried Hokkien mee or Hokkien noodles. It comes with thick yellow noodles, fried with seafood, port and vegetables and is topped with an egg and paired with iced tea or a sweet coconut drink. The dish has been a popular choice for three generations.

The restaurant, which has been described as a noodle institution, is found in the Surin traffic circle in Phuket town.
