Sunscreen is an absolute must when you are travelling to a tropical climate. When you're having fun at local attractions and exploring the area, you and your children are bound to get a lot of sun. Get one with a high SPF and be sure to put it on before you go out and reapply throughout the day. If you have older children, make sure they pack their own sunscreen and use it regularly. Don't forget to also include hats and sunglasses.
Aloe vera lotion or gel will provide much needed soothing relief and replenish your skin should you get burnt. It's better to be safe than sorry, so take some along.
Bug spray will protect you from the insects of the islands and spare you from getting nasty itchy bites. It is still a good idea to take anti-itch spray or ointment as well.
A small first-aid kit could prove very helpful. Items such as waterproof plasters, antibiotic cream or spray and pain-relief pills are simple additions to your toiletries bag that you will be very grateful to have should you need them.
Gadgets and equipment
Capture your underwater memories with an underwater camera. When you are swimming, diving and snorkelling in the balmy and tropical waters, take some playful snaps to get framed and mounted on your wall so you can always remember your amazing holiday. Take extra memory cards so you can keep taking more.
Packing your own mask and snorkel could be a good idea. While resorts do offer the hire of equipment such as this, if you take your own you can be sure you and your children will have an unscratched snorkel that fits so you can see all of the marine wildlife in its full glory.
