Amazing reasons Fiji is perfect for families of all ages

Amazing reasons Fiji is perfect for families of all ages

What does you idealic family holiday look like? You're probably picturing a week of lounging by an amazing resort pool, but your partner might be interested in finding a golf course to play a few rounds. And the kids? Well, the young ones might not exactly be wanting to sit still and the teens are going to try to slip away from parents because they 'aren't children anymore!'

Yes, in many ways planning a family holiday can feel like more stress than it's worth in the end. But what if we told you we knew of a place that's perfect for families of all ages? Plus we'll take care of everything so you can relax, unwind and enjoy that well earned break. Such place does, in fact, exist. It's the one and only Fiji!

Fiji holiday deals for the whole family

Fiji is as much a kid holiday destination as it is a place for adults - so much that there are several holiday packages that give kids discounted seats. For example, our Naviti Resort package includes return flights with Fiji Airways and lets up to two kids under 12 years stay and eat free. But packages like these go beyond flights - many include credit for food and beverages and feature exciting activities and tours.

To note, Fiji is a very family friendly destination but there are some resorts that are adult only. So as you peruse different Fiji holiday packages just make sure you're looking in the family section. Some of the most kid-friendly parts of Fiji include Nadi, Denarau and Coral Coast as there are plenty of activities (ranging from mud pools and sandcastle-building to zip lining) to keep them occupied.

Activities for all ages

There are tonnes of activities for each age group, so let us break down a couple of them for you beginning with the younger kids. Accommodation like the Shangri-La Fijian Resort and Spa feature all kinds of activities for kids (aged four to 14) to enjoy at the kids club or nanny services. The club staff will watch the children in the pool, on the beach and at the playground. There are also unique activities sponsored by the resort every day of the week. The kids can go on a bike tour of Yanuca Island, take a class in grass skirt making or play some soccer.

Meanwhile, teenagers at the Shangri-La can cruise around the resort (as far as you'll let them) and do their own thing. They can go snorkelling over the beautiful reef around the beach near the resort. Teens can take a look at the resort weekly activities as well. They can sign up for some volleyball, touch rugby or take a pottery-making class. There are tonnes of things they can do to stay occupied.

And don't worry parents, we haven't forgotten about you! As the kids enjoy their day under resort supervision, you can indulge in some parent-time at the spa. There's nothing like a little pampering and natural healing to restore the mind and body. Parents can also duel it out on the tennis court or embark on a game fishing trip.

Of course, this is only one of the many resorts that offer activities for the whole families; if you want to learn more about some of the other resorts, feel free to reach out to our team.

Activities to do as a family

It can be hard to convince the kids to do family time, but not when you're in Fiji. So many of the resorts have activities that the family can do as a whole squad. Take the Warwick Fiji Resort for example, you'll be plenty occupied from morning to night. Begin the day with kayaking around the bay before coming back to the resort and splashing around the pool. In the evening, be sure to get your dose of culture by attending a Meke performance (a traditional song and dance to respect the spirits and history of Fiji).

All over Fiji there is an abundance of family-friendly outings to try. If the kids are old enough (over 10 years) take the family on a scenic scuba diving trip - these are available all over the islands. You can see turtles, blue marlin and butterfly fish amongst so many other colourful fish. Of course, there are countless beautiful beaches that make for a great day - park up in the sand and just relax with the whole gang!
