3 sporting events in Thailand this October

While there are always a plethora of reasons to visit Thailand, this October is chock full of sporting events that are lively and packed with energy. Be sure to check out these events and festivals:

Kaeng Hin Phoeng Whitewater Rafting Festival

June 1 - October 31

The rainy season of Thailand turns this country into a whitewater rafting adventure land. When the rivers are at their fullest, people take to the water decked out in their life vests, helmets and with a paddle in hand, ready to venture down the rapids.

This festival takes place at Kaeng Hin Phoeng in Khao Yai National Park. Many tour operators rent out inflatable rafts that are perfect for the class 3-5 rapids. If you're a beginner, you'll attend a briefing by the experienced instructors, and then head out.

FIVB Beach Volleyball Swatch World Tour

October 1 - October 31

As one of the largest volleyball competitions in Asia, this event is world class and shows off talents from all around the world.

This event is part of the FIVB Beach Volleyball SWATCH World Tour and is also one way Olympic players are selected. Over the course of the month, more than 70 of the best female beach volleyball players from more than 30 countries will partake in action-packed games.

Amari Watergate and BMW Thailand Charity Midnight Run

October 18

Amari Watergate Bangkok is running this event, which is the 17th time it has taken place. Last year there were 7,000 runners from around the world taking part. Participants can dress up as their favourite superhero and be there early to take part in pre-race festivities.

This year the proceeds are being donated to the Chalerm Prakiat HRH Princess Sirindhorn School to support the education of children whose parents have passed away because of HIV. The Secondary charity is Baan Gerda, which is a Children's Village project in Lopburi that supports children with HIV. Sign up now or go along to support the runners.
